Our People

Mark W. Yocca

Mark Yocca, a successful and seasoned trial lawyer with over thirty years of experience in complex business litigation, tenaciously fights and wins for his clients.  Following the shining example of ethics and honesty demonstrated by his late father (Orange County law legend Nick Yocca, founder of Stradling, Yocca, Carlsen & Rauth), Mark always puts his client’s interests first and provides the best advice and most cost-effective representation he can.
His record of success speaks for itself, having never lost a jury trial.  On the plaintiff’s side, he has achieved many multi-million dollar verdicts and settlements including:

  • a judgment securing approximately $8 million in insurance coverage for a public company client (including coverage of an adverse punitive damage award);
  • a $5.3 million unanimous jury verdict in an intellectual property licensing case in favor of another public company client (which led to a $7.6 million recovery after post-trial motions); and,
  • a $13.2 million recovery in an unfair competition case against a well-known sporting goods manufacturer.

On the defense side, he has effectively and successfully defended many clients, both at the pre-trial stage and through trial.  His defense successes include:

  • a post-trial dismissal in favor of his client in a high-stakes fraud case brought by the State of California involving over two thousand investors and tens of millions of dollars;
  • a jury verdict for the defense and $1 million affirmative recovery on a cross-complaint in favor of a public company electronics distributor; and,
  • a summary judgment for the defense in a real estate fraud matter (as well as summary judgment in the client’s favor on a cross-complaint awarding nearly $800,000 including attorneys’ fees).

Mark and his firm understand the importance of not only trial presentation skills, but also written work, where many cases are won and lost.  After a recent victory, the Los Angeles Superior Court Judge awarded every penny of The Yocca Law Firm’s legal fees, expressly ruling: “Having witnessed first-hand the representation provided, both in writing and in person, the court further finds the quality of the work presented to the court by defendants was at a very high level of quality, certainly on equal ground with the work of the very best attorneys in this community.”

Mark has been recognized by his peers with an “AV” Martindale Hubbell rating, denoting the highest ratings for ethics and competence, a Southern California Super Lawyer each year from 2005 through 2020, and one of the Best Lawyers in Southern California since 2015.

Mark met Christine (his wife of 29 years) at Loyola Law School, is a proud father of three, and a devoted fan of the Los Angeles Rams and Los Angeles Angels.
